When I was five years old, my parents sent me to chess lessons. After smashing two chess pieces and wrecking several boards, they, thankfully, came to the conclusion that I should pursue a different hobby. And after speaking to a few of my teachers, they decided that taking up a sport would be the best way to channel my energy.

I tried judo for a while but lost interest after getting beaten a few times. Then at seven years old, I played my first game of handball. Needless to say, I was hooked, and I continued playing handball for the next 19 years, eventually taking my skills to a professional level. Since then the game has had a huge impact on my life.

While I missed out on things like nights on the town with friends and being a teenage troublemaker, playing handball gave me the opportunity to travel across Europe and meet new and interesting people at a young age.

Even though I’ve since retired from playing at a professional level, I couldn’t imagine the kind of person I’d be today without handball in my life. I’ve taken valuable lessons learned both on and off the pitch and carried them with me into my business practices today.
